Puppy Grooming

Your new puppy has arrived, an adorable cuddly ball of fluff that makes you smile from ear to ear. You might not have considered puppy grooming. However, a puppy’s first experiences at a grooming salon can shape how they respond to grooming for the rest of their lives, so it’s critical to make the experience as pleasant as possible.

Wool/Wool Mix Coats

Curly-haired dogs have thick, tight, wavy hair that resembles David Hasselhoff. Matting and tangling are common, and their coats can become rather dry. To reduce breaking, use a spray conditioner before brushing, and monthly clipping will help you stay on top of coat maintenance.

Double Coats

Dogs with double coats are like us when we wear a woolly jumper with a waterproof coat on top. The term “double coat” seems difficult, but it’s actually fairly straightforward. Their skin is protected from the elements by a mixture of a short, dense undercoat and a long overcoat. Their two coats keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer, so they can enjoy themselves regardless of the weather.

Smooth & Short Coats

Smooth coated dog breeds have short, lustrous hair and make excellent pets for folks who don’t have a lot of time to groom them. They require the least amount of attention due to their ability to swiftly dry their coats. Smooth-coated dogs don’t need to be brushed very often, although they do enjoy a good wash every now and then.

Wire Coats

Wiry coated dogs have rough and bristly hair. They are also sometimes known as broken coats. They do not shed, which is why wiry haired breeds are often favoured by those with allergies. Grooming a broken coat can be quite time-consuming as it can involve plucking out stray hairs. This stimulates the skin to grow healthy new hairs and will keep your wiry dog looking smart.

Silky & Long Coats

A dog with a silky coat could outperform even the most popular shampoo commercial models. Long, smooth, and flowing silky dog coats To minimise matting and tangling, these coats require a lot of maintenance. They require frequent brushing to keep them in good condition, but remember to brush with the lay of the coat and be patient while prying out those troublesome tangles.

“I cannot recommend the team at Lowen Kei Dog Grooming Studio enough! At just over a year old, Nikah had never had a professional groom, and as an “overprotective dog-mum” I was so nervous about getting the right care for her coat, but the guys & girls at Lowen Kei really put my mind at ease. They answered all my questions and clearly had great knowledge of her breed.

Despite her couple of little “quirks” they achieved a fantastic job, and she still smells amazing 3 days later! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone…. We will be booking in for regular grooms from now on!

Fab service, took time to talk to my dog to make him feel safe. Asked exactly what I wanted done. Will definitely be going back, thanks.

“Very, very happy with my dogs groom yesterday. Before we knew about Lowen Kei we took him to another local dog groomers. When we picked him up he didn’t look much different to when we dropped him off (his coat was still full of dead hair, he didn’t look like they had bathed him and they charged us a lot of money). Another dog groomer refused to groom him as they don’t do ‘large dogs’ (ridiculous – he’s a medium size dog and good as gold)!! We then found Lowen Kei and we are really happy we have. I picked Prince up yesterday and he looked wonderful. His coat had been stripped of all his dead hair and he looked and smelt amazing! He also seemed very calm and chilled out when I snuck up the stairs to see him/pick him up (he didn’t know I was there). Very happy customer. We highly recommend Lewis at Lowen Kei and will no longer go anywhere else.

Absolutely fantastic service. My dog can be nervous but they took the time to get her settled, got her used to the experiences and calmed her when she was worried. I came back to collect a very smart looking, happy and chilled dog. I’m thoroughly impressed with the work ethic and time that went into understanding my dog. I received a call to say I could collect her and was able to watch her groom back. This just helped my confidence in the groomer. They kept Hallie and I happy and look forward to booking another visit. A truly fantastic service.
